Tell Congress Not to Slash Housing & Community Development Funding

Add your organization to a letter urging Congress to invest in affordable housing, community development, and homelessness prevention in Fiscal Year 2024. Congress has underfunded critical programs for decades, and now House Republicans are threatening to enact deep budget cuts. Urge Congress to ensure these vital programs receive the highest allocation of discretionary funds possible in fiscal year 2024.

NACEDA Goes on the Road to Present Grounding Values Study Results

NACEDA is presenting state-specific results of the Grounding Values Study – a national study of community-based development organizations (CBDOs) that was conducted by the Urban Institute for NACEDA – at community development conferences around the country. The most recent stop was the Texas Association of Community Development Corporations’ (TACDC) conference on April 17. In a session titled Data & Direction: The Future of Community Development in Texas, NACEDA Executive Director Frank Woodruff and consultant Chris Walker discussed the Texas-specific data gleaned from the study with David Danenfelzer of the Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation and Paul Charles of Neighborhood Recovery CDC.

The Grounding Values Study includes tax data analysis, the first national survey of CBDOs since 2005, and qualitative interviews around key themes. The findings can be used to support advocacy, fundraising, and capacity building. Next stop: The 2023 Small Town & Rural Development Conference, hosted by the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan. Contact Research Fellow Chanse Sonsalla at [email protected] if you are interested in bringing a session on the Grounding Values Study to your conference.
