The National Development Council (NDC) is the pre-eminent national provider of rental and home ownership finance training. NACEDA contracted with NDC to provide their full, 17-day Housing Development Finance Certification series in the Mid-Atlantic region in 2016-2017. You'll learn the steps of the housing development process, techniques to analyze and structure financing for home ownership and rental housing deals, and the problem solving and negotiating skills needed to make complicated deals feasible. Whether you are a developer, CDC, funder, investor, or want to be a more informed development partner, these courses will increase your capacity to get deals done. HD410 and HD420 have already been completed and are prerequisites for the final two courses in the certification series. There are no more HD410 or HD420 courses offered at this rate. NOTE: HD410 and HD420 may be taken in any order but most both be taken before HD422.


HD422 — Computer Spread Sheet Analysis for Housing

April 26-28, 2017 in Baltimore, MD at the Baltimore Days Inn Inner Harbor
Course #3 in the Certification Program − HD422 incorporates the use of computer spread sheets designed so participants can apply the financial analysis techniques presented in the previous two courses. Participants learn to use spread sheets as a tool to locate and interpret key financial information and to restructure a housing transaction based on revised assumptions. More time is available to consider structuring options for affordable home ownership and rental housing case studies. Note: Participants must bring a laptop computer equipped with Microsoft Excel.

Prerequisites: HD410 and HD420
Daily lunches and one group dinner provided at this training.

HD430 — Housing Development Finance: Problem Solving and Deal Structuring

October 2-6, 2017 in Southeastern PA at the DoubleTree Valley Forge
Course #4 in the Certification Program − The final course, HD430 blends the financial analysis techniques learned in the previous courses with the problem solving and negotiating skills that housing development practitioners use to close complex projects. This course challenges participants to analyze and structure financing packages for home ownership and rental housing deals that are complicated by a variety of factors, both financial and non-financial. Participants become skilled at the methods used to structure financing that most effectively leverage public dollars. Note: Participants must bring a laptop computer equipped with Microsoft Excel.

Prerequisites: HD410, HD420 and HD422
Daily lunches and one group dinner provided at this training.
