Welcome to the 2023 Money Meets Community series — five briefs exploring the lines of business and financial resources of local community economic development organizations across the United States.

The series was commissioned by the National Alliance of Community Economic Development Associations (NACEDA) as part of its Grounding Values in Research program. It arrives in 2023 at a critical juncture for our country’s low- and moderate-income people and places and the local organizations dedicated to serving them.

The Money Meets Community Series will explore how financial resources flow within and among community economic development organizations. Each brief will focus on a different topic. Read the first two briefs:

Upcoming briefs will focus on these topics:
  • Business lines by geographic region
  • The overall financial health of the community economic development sector
  • How financial health is influenced by the types of organizations, their business lines, and where they serve.

NACEDA began the Grounding Values in Research program as a service to the local community economic development organizations that advance prosperity and equity. Now is the moment to spotlight the historical and future achievements of these crucial organizations, their missions, and their challenges.
