As Director of Government Relations, Ms. Audi manages the advocacy and educational efforts for NACEDA and its members. With fourteen years of professional service for two U.S. Senators, the U.S. Executive Branch, the State of Maryland, and a leading national medical association, Ms. Audi is a senior public executive with a successful advocacy record and advanced understanding of federal and state legislative processes, executive operations, and the value of coalitions and action.
In 2007 Ms. Audi received a Presidential appointment to the US Department of Energy as Senior Policy Advisor in the Environmental Management Program, where she advised the Assistant Secretary and multiple DOE billion-dollar sites on Congressional and media matters regarding the program’s cleanup of Cold War nuclear waste. In 2006 Ms. Audi joined the Maryland Department of Planning as Assistant Secretary, where she advocated State policy to the legislature, created a program to provide County governments awareness of the value of planning growth, and directed the restructuring of the State’s clearinghouse of professional planning resources for legal compliance.
In 2005 as Deputy Director of Congressional Relations for the American Psychiatric Association, Ms. Audi secured the reintroduction of Medicare mental health legislation, which President Bush enacted in 2008. Ms. Audi secured reintroduction of emergency psychiatric legislation, and she collaborated with Senate committees regarding pediatric drugs, mental health parity (now law), and psychiatric challenges of older Americans. From 2001 to 2004 Ms. Audi served as Health Care Advisor for US Senator Wayne Allard. In collaboration with federal and state trade associations, Ms. Audi secured the enactment of rural Medicare access legislation, Medicaid paperwork suspension, and an $80 million dollar expansion of the CDC’s Vector-Borne Infectious Diseases which opened in 2007.
Ms. Audi received her M.P.A. in Public Administration from Harvard University and a M.A. in Public Policy from Regent University. Her B.A., in Spanish, is from University of Maryland College Park.
